Artists Statement
ReCREATION was an art exhibition held in conjunction with Faith and Earthkeeping
Conference 2002. Each of the six artists shown, approached the subject of the
environment in a different way, through medium and subject. Some artworks were
quite literately taken directly from the environment, while others interrupted
the relationship we have with it. The artists explored how we as God's people
relate to the world around us; through joy, reflection, stimulation,
interpretation, connection, degradation, and magnificence. The art brings to
light the hidden - or maybe simply the overlooked - nuances found all around us
in our daily journeys. This is the artist role in God's creation - to create,
and recreate, offering different ways of looking at the world around us.
ReCREATION was organized by Henry Brouwer, Robert Hengeveld, and Crystle Numan
Curated by Ruth Spyksma
Exhibiting the work of Bruno Capolongo, Gwenda Dieleman, Robert Hengeveld, Phil Irish,
Monique Sliedrecht, and Christian van den Ham.
